The Composition and Cultural Rhetoric program is separate from but thoroughly intertwined with The Writing Program here at Syracuse University. CCR faculty teach undergraduate writing studios in addition to CCR graduate courses. CCR Teaching Assistants also teach in The Writing Program, generally the first and second year writing studios. New TAs participate in a year-long teaching practicum featuring mentoring, weekly meetings, and a shared syllabus. Veteran TAs build on that foundation to design courses, and participate in ongoing professional development work sponsored by The Writing Program.

The following pages within The Writing Program website are of particular interest to CCR students:

WRT 670: The home page for information and resources pertaining to WRT 670, the teaching practicum for new teaching assistants. Here you'll find the shared syllabus materials, and readings and links related to the weekly 670 meetings.

Teaching Handbook: This is the central page for the Writing Program Teaching Handbook, including policies, course descriptions, and several links for useful administrative information.

Lower Division Learning Goals: Revised in 2005 and including the program's commitment to diversity as part of the curiculum, the Lower Division Learning Goals are at the core of both the shared syllabi and the syllabi TAs design reflect these goals.

Computer Cluster Reservations: The link to reserve Writing Program Computer Clusters for your classes. The cluster reservation policy is a link from this page as well.

The Writing Center: Whether you work as a Writing Consultant or not, the Writing Center is an important resource for you and your students. This page offers the overview and links for additional information and making an appointment.

Historical Documents: This collection of documents provides a good history of The Writing Program, including the charter documents and the philosophical background that helped The Writing Program unique in the field.

In general, the Teacher Resources link from The Writing Program main page provides the answers to almost every question you have related to teaching, classrooms, reserving computer clusters, other equipment, and general resources.
