Services
Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield
Excellus is the health plan for most staff, faculty and TAs here at SU. If you're new to the area, this link is the fastest way to find a primary physician who is accepting new patients. Be sure to call to verify what the website says, though. Sometimes the updates can be behind. Likewise, if you have a recommendation for a physician, try calling that doctor's office to see if they'll accept you as a new Excellus patient. Other parts of this site can help you with mail-order prescriptions and details about the plan.

Groceries
In addition to the big local chains (Wegmans, Price Chopper, and P&C), the Syracuse Real Food Co-op is conveniently located on Kensington Road in the university neighborhood east of campus.

The Inn Complete SU's own Graduate Student Club and home of the ever-popular Trivia Night on Thursday nights, The Inn Complete features reasonably priced good eats, beer, wine and other beverages. Recreation options include comfy furniture for reading, studying or conversation, game tables for chess, backgammon, etc., pool, Playstation, etc. This year, The Inn Complete will be part of the campus bus route, solving transportation problems for those without cars or who park in strange places. The Library Lounge @ the Marx
The Marx is located on Genesee street in the shadow of I-81 and I-690. The Library Lounge, which you can see as a link from the main hotel web site, is a quiet place for a light meal or beverage away from the usual university hangouts. Not a bad walk when the weather is reasonable.

The Genesee Grand
Also known affectionately as "the Gennie", the Genessee Grand is near the university but just enough away to be distinct and different. On Genessee Street between University Ave. and Walnut.

The Blue Tusk
Arguably the best beer place in Syracuse, with an extensive list of fresh draught beers from the local region and around the world. Located in the heart of the Armory Square area, the Tusk features outdoor seating during good weather, and a menu of wonderful sandwiches, cheeses, and other gourmet snacks. Discounted prices before 8 pm.
